Hohe Tauern ski adventure
Alpine ski tours around the Großglockner
Our top holiday offer: 5 nights in a romantic mountain chalet and an exquisite fondue evening
Glittering powder snow, glistening firn, alpine challenge, peace and solitude, authentic sports experience in the high mountains, fantastic mountain panorama and summit happiness on one of the countless 3000-meter peaks in our region - these are just a few reasons that attract ski tourers and ski mountaineers from all over the world to us in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Because our holiday region Heiligenblut-Grossglockner is not only a first-class downhill ski area, but also one of the most beautiful, most varied, but also most challenging touring ski areas in the Alps.
Late winter and spring in particular, the months of March to May, offer the ideal conditions for ski touring. The days are already long, the temperatures are no longer extreme, but due to the altitude of between 2,000 and 3,500 meters, the snow conditions on the mountain are still perfect.

Our hut is located in the center of three mighty mountain ranges that couldn't be more different in terms of ski tours:
- In the west, the mystical Schober Group, practically deserted in winter, with rugged peaks and challenging tours, a paradise for experienced and extreme mountaineering enthusiasts.
- In the east, the Goldberg Group, at the foot of which our chalet is located, with a wide range of options for every taste and ability, from beginners to experienced leisure tourers.
- And in the north, the majestic massif of the Grossglockner, Austria's highest mountain at 3,798 meters. With guaranteed snow until the end of May, there are tours here with long, enjoyable glacier descents in the 3000m region, which can also be done by experienced beginners.
- All entry points for the ski tours can be reached in no more than 30 minutes by car. Here you can find out more about our mountains and the best tour suggestions.

As an official partner of the Hohe Tauern National Park, we know many tours ourselves and can always rely on the professional know-how of the national park rangers if you have a question. We are also glad to organize the off-road vehicle transfer to the entry point at a fair special price, if desired. In our Almchalet Goldbergleiten there is a heated ski cellar with a small workshop in case you want to do something with your equipment.
All relevant tour guides and alpine maps for our area, including the "tour bible" Skialpinismus in den Hohen Tauern Süd, are available in our hut library and can be used by you.
We will also prepare an evening for you dedicated to the Swiss fondue tradition. As hosts with alpine roots, it is of course a matter of honor for us to maintain the culture of this wonderful mountain dish on the Goldbergleiten.
Romantic fondue evening in the old lodge parlor
After a starter and a sparkling aperitif, we will enjoy, according to your choice, either
- Classic meat fondue "Fondue Bourguignonne" with Mölltaler Almbeef, game from local hunting and homemade sauces
or
- Original Swiss cheese fondue, homemade according to an old hut recipe from three different types of alpine cheese. A vegetarian delight that will also convince "meat lovers"!
- including suitable drinks (wines from our top winemaker, beers from private brewers from the Innviertel and Upper Bavaria, mineral water from our own spring, organic fruit juices from the farmer, etc.).

And if you ever feel like downhill skiing: Our Heiligenblut-Grossglockner ski area is open until March 30th and is around 15 minutes by car from the chalet. In the glacier ski area "Mölltal Glacier", where the slopes rise to well over 3,000 meters, skiing runs from mid-October to mid-June. That's why the 36 km of high alpine downhill runs are used every year by the best skiers in the world to prepare for the winter sports season. The Mölltal Glacier is the official training area of the Austria Ski Team and the German Alpine Ski National Team. By car, you can reach the valley station of the Mölltal cable car in around 40 minutes from us.
