Dogs have been part of life in an alpine house since ancient times

Dogs have been part of life in an alpine house since old times.
Whether as attentive guardians over the house, farm and pasture cattle, whether as loyal companions and assistants when hunting in the mountains, or now as guests on four paws.

In the spirit of this tradition, we want to provide people and animals with unforgettable, relaxing and eventful holidays in our wonderful mountain world.

Here your dog will find unlimited opportunities to play, romp around, run, stalk, and experience the exciting smells and sounds of the forest, game, water and nature.

  • Secluded location in the forest and on the mountain, no neighbors, no public road
  • Winter experience in the Alps. Your dog can accompany you on ski and snowshoe tours
  • Summer freshness in the mountains, never too hot
  • Large garden and outdoor space
  • Dogs holiday with us for free!

Our hut offers space and exercise for up to 3 large dogs, who are very welcome with us. Of course, your furry friends will also receive a special welcome treat upon arrival!

We would also be happy to do dog sitting for a day or two and keep your four-legged friend busy if you would like to go on a cultural excursion or go on a high Alpine mountain tour. We have experience with guest dogs of all sizes and personalities, from Chihuahuas to Dogo Argentinos.

In our large natural garden, your dog can move freely as he pleases. The garden is separated from the forest with a traditional Stangenhag (wooden paddock fence). This serves to keep livestock from the mountain pastures away from our flowers and herbs. The fence is a territory marker for the dog, but a determined dog can definitely overcome it. We therefore recommend that you supervise your four-legged friend when the dog is outside.

There is a large freezer in the basement of the alpine house where you can freeze and store special fresh food for your animal, e.g. for raw feeding.

Your dog is also allowed to travel on the mountain railways and hiking buses in our region. Please take a muzzle with you; This is a legal requirement on public transport, and in Austria this also includes the gondola lifts up the mountains.

Directly from the hut there are wonderful walking and hiking trails in the nature of the mountains for you and your four-legged friend, and without any car traffic. We would be glad to advise you personally about which mountain tours in our Alps can be done with a dog, as this information is rarely found in hiking guides or on the Internet. An alpine hike is an experience for every dog, and you and your dog are welcome to stop at all alpine and mountain huts in our region.

For hunting dogs that can be led safely, we can also provide opportunities to take part in game hunts with our local hunters upon request.

In winter, your dog can run around and play in the snow to his heart's content. Hunting for snowballs is great fun for any animal, especially if there is rarely a lot of snow in your home region. Your furry friend can accompany you on snowshoe hikes and ski tours if he is sporty enough. Your dog is also allowed to go on winter excursions with our national park rangers. By the way, these excursions are free of charge for you because our alpine chalet is an official partner company of the Hohe Tauern National Park!

Water fun and swimming in streams and lakes

Obere Möll - mountain river for refreshing in summer

The Obere Möll, a small river, crystal clear with drinking water quality, which gave our valley its name, flows just half an hour's walk from our alpine house and offers the dog the opportunity to splash around and cool off. Particularly hardened human guests even go to the Möll to swim ("maximum" temperature approx. 16 °C, glacier water!).
